چکیده
Recent studies suggest that infrared dark clouds (IRDCs) have the potential of harboring the earliest stages of massive star formation and indeed evidence for this is found toward distinct regions within them. We present a study with the Plateau de Bure Interferometer of a core in the archetypal filamentary IRDC G11.11-0.12 of a few arcsecond resolution to determine its physical and chemical structures. The data consist of continuum and line observations covering the C34S 2 → 1 line and the methanol 2k → 1k vt = 0 lines at 3 mm and the methanol 5k → 4k vt = 0 lines at 1 mm. Our observations show extended emission in the continuum at 1 and 3 mm. The methanol 2k → 1k vt = 0 emission has three maxima extending over a 1 pc scale (when merged with single-dish short-spacing observations); one of the maxima is spatially coincident with the continuum emission. The fitting results show an enhanced methanol fractional abundance (∼3 × 10−8) at the central peak with respect to the other two peaks, where it decreases by about an order of magnitude (∼4−6 × 10−9). Evidence of extended 4.5 μm emission, “wings” in the CH3OH 2k → 1k spectra, and CH3OH abundance enhancements point to the presence of an outflow in the east-west direction. In addition, we find a gradient of ∼4 km s−1 in the same direction, which we interpret as being produced by an outflow(s)-cloud interaction.

A Genetic Algorithm-Based Exploration of Three Filament Models: A Case for the Magnetic Support of the G11.11-0.12 Infrared-Dark Cloud
The G11.11-0.12 infrared-dark cloud has a filamentary appearance, both in extinction against the diffuse infrared emission of the Galactic plane and in emission at 850μm. We use a novel computational technique based on an advanced genetic algorithm to explore thoroughly 3 different models of self-gravitating, pressure truncated filaments and to constrain their parameters. Specifically, the mode...

The G11.11-0.12 Infrared-Dark Cloud has a filamentary appearance, both in absorption against the diffuse 8μm Galactic background, and in emission from cold dust at 850μm. Detailed comparison of the dust properties at these two wavelengths reveals that standard models for the diffuse interstellar dust in the Galaxy are not consistent with the observations. The ratio of absorption coefficients wi...
متن کاملHigh mass star formation in the infrared dark cloud G 11 . 11 − 0 . 12
We report detection of moderate to high-mass star formation in an infrared dark cloud (G11.11-0.12) where we discovered class II methanol and water maser emissions at 6.7 GHz and 22.2 GHz, respectively. We also observed the object in ammonia inversion transitions. Strong emission from the (3,3) line indicates a hot (60 K) compact component associated with the maser emission. The line width of t...
متن کاملCloud Structure of Three Galactic Infrared Dark Star-forming Regions from Combining Ground- and Space-based Bolometric Observations
We have modified the iterative procedure introduced by Lin et al. (2016), to systematically combine the submm images taken from ground based (e.g., CSO, JCMT, APEX) and space (e.g., Herschel, Planck) telescopes. We applied the updated procedure to observations of three well studied Infrared Dark Clouds (IRDCs): G11.11-0.12, G14.225-0.506 and G28.34+0.06, and then performed singlecomponent, modi...
متن کاملInteractions between a Bright YSO and the MSX Infrared-Dark Cloud G79.3+0.3: An Early Stage of Triggered Star Formation?
Millimeter and mid-infrared observations have been made of the dense clumps of dust and gas and of young stellar objects (YSOs) associated with the bright, compact submillimeter source G79.3+0.3 P1 in the relatively nearby MSX infrared-dark cloud G79.3+0.3. The Gemini mid-infrared observations reported here indicate the presence of three YSOs within the cloud. BIMA 3 mm continuum observations s...
